    I work at home and have rather intense schedule because during my day I do not only tasks within my job, but also plenty of tasks about home and family management. My working day begins at 10 AM and ends at 6PM. I leave buffer time about 15 minutes to finish my job, make plan for the next day and at 6 PM I leave my working place. At that time my husband and son are coming home, so I have another things to do, I have no time for my job in the evening. That helps me avoid procrastination and concentrate on my job during fixed time intervals. Also I use Pomodoro-method to spend my working time really productively and to have time for other tasks besides my job.

    How to get back on track when you're mid-complete chaos/overwhelm. And, tips on determining, anticipating, organizing subtasks for a project with multiple parts to it - particularly when the initial subtasks are research related and research culminates into numerous potential rabbit holes to go down.

    Hi all, as someone who has to manage a long term health condition while running a business and, well living a life. I've found that learning how to build the habit of Deep Work sessions has been invaluable to me. For my situation, I have had to learn to be super flexible and kind to myself about what Deep Work is for me and when I am capable of achieveing it. For example, if you are having a low energy day then DeepWork might need to be rescheduled so that you can prioritise your health. This is a really tough call to make as we all know how important getting the real work done is! What's worked for me: I have blocked off each day of the week for a specific focus. For example, currently, Mon: Business & Life admin (paper pushing and housework/groceries, bookkeeping etc), Tue-Thur: do the business (the actual job), Fri: Health (fitness session - ain't nothing else getting done that day!), Sat & Sun: REST!! And family. This is by no means a set schedule that I follow religiously, it's more a framework that I can workwith and adjust every day. Sometimes, things just don't get done because our health is more important. Learning to accept what is necessary and important compared to what is not is key.

    Many features are missing, such as being able to block certain meal times or gym times. See that it is not a task or event but rather an agenda block. I also detected other problems such as losing time on recurring tasks and not being able to adjust the color of the blocks according to the project (currently only based on priority, which is terrible). Todoist has always been very good but they faltered in this launch as it is still a beta version.

  • @JeancarloRibas
    @JeancarloRibas 5 дней назад

    After completing a recurring task with a specific time, when rescheduling for the next date the time is being lost. This is a serious problem, especially in the calendar view where we need to look at the blocks.

    Making time for a weekly review is often difficult when I feel under pressure to get so many other things done or am also tired and fed up with work, and don't particularly feel like thinking about work on a weekend. It just seems like another chore. I have often tried to do this but soon forget to do it. I need to find a way to make this a habit. I envy people who are so super organised. I am going to implement the Weekly Review Template and hopefully I can keep it going.

    I do the weekly review on Friday morning. Reflect on my achievements and the challenges to readdress the following week. Monday morning starts by setting the timetable daily, time management for projects, research and podcast sessions. I am clearly strict on keeping track of time and day for each project.

    Could you make the events created in google calendar displayed as tasks? And todoist time-blocked ones to be google calendar ones (so I can invite my friends who don't use todoist)? That would be calendar layout with old google calendar integration. Thanks!

    Lovely video again. I need to clear my desk - and make sure I have only 1 screen open for the next day. Within like half an hour my desk and desktop is a chaos. Carl Pullein mentioned Todoist, and that is the best thing for my productivity. I need to go back to Todoist a lot to stay on track. What helps is the Pomodoro on deep work. I will then compete to myself to finish something (even deep work).

    Brilliant! Thanks, Naomi! The labels are a great idea. I've tried to separate the two types of concentration but I have to check each task and ask myself the question: deep or shallow? The labels will help me choose my tasks. I also use the Pomodoro method for my deep work, which greatly helps me. I will define how many ‘pomodoros’ I need for this or that task. and thanks for the playlist, a bit too rhythmic but I'll give it a chance anyway and I'll add it to my favourites. ciao, n 🌞

  • @SudoPi

    Super easy straight forward tip on deep work: Time block! I don't what it is with my brain but when I actually get to scheduling a specific period where I'll only do a certain task, my brain just wants to stick to that. Unlike just having a list of different things I have to do, time blocking to just work on one project helps me dive into a flow where I trust myself in working through said task and that I only have to focus on this one thing.

  • @papirobee
    @papirobee 10 дней назад

    Excellent video! I already do timers to focus on those big tasks that I will now label in Todoist as Deep Work 😊. One thing I will try is to set up a shortcut on my iPhone to start 3 timers automatically: the deep work, break and shallow work timers with the hope to automate the process. Maybe I can add a playlist to it as well 😇.

    Such a fantastic post. The Deep work frame is super helpful; it couldn’t have presented itself at a more opportune time. I was drowning in shallow work. I’ve been using it for 2 months now, and it has really made my life more manageable and enjoyable. Thank you, Todoist!

    Great video! One thing I like to do is block time in my calendar and include "Deep Work" in the subject line followed by whatever activity I plan on doing (ex: "Deep Work - Draft Presentation"). I know exactly what I want to accomplish during that block (based on my tasks/projects in Todoist of course), and it's another signal to my brain that this is an intentional deep work block. It also makes me think twice about booking over it/deciding to do something else.
